Anders, Purchasing Manager: ”WFI is facing an exciting future – we have great opportunities to continue developing and expanding together with our suppliers”

Over ten years ago, in 2012, Anders Johansson began his journey at WFI – already back then as a purchasing manager which is also his current position. He had previously worked as purchasing support, buyer, and strategic buyer at a larger company and describes that the short decision-making paths, forward thinking, and the opportunity to influence the results interested him the most with WFI. Anders works mainly with strategic parts concerning purchasing and suppliers, as well as quality and IT, and is motivated by consistent development together with the company.

–   Considering that I had worked at a larger company for a couple of years, it felt exciting to change to a smaller organization where the decision-making paths are shorter. Everything runs faster, the feeling of participation is higher, and you are constantly working close to whatever is going on. And that is something I still appreciate and value in my position. Even though our business has grown and increased in both revenue and employees, there are still opportunities to influence the decisions and results, Anders begins.

A regular day at the office, Anders works with everything from suppliers, procurements and price estimates to projects and purchasing in general.

–   The goal is for us working with purchasing, me and Fia, to function as a service department for the remaining parts of the organization and create the right conditions for their work. Everything comes down to the company’s needs and how we, through strategic decisions, can take actions which benefits WFI. Regardless of it concerns prices, raw material levels, quotation requests, or new potential cooperation partners. For example, when the technology department develops a new product, we have a discussion to find an optimal solution in relation to our suppliers’ possibilities to produce and deliver, Anders continues.

–   My position has always been dynamic, and no two days are the same. That is much thanks to the fact that WFI is a curious company, constantly looking for new challenges and pushing forward. We are facing an exciting future and have great opportunities to continue developing and expanding together with our suppliers. In addition, I look forward to continuing building close relationships with our suppliers and increase the understanding regarding their significant parts in our processes, Anders concludes.

Three fast questions with Anders!

What do you prefer to do in your free time?
-   I like to stay active, but I need a ball to do it and right now it is mostly padel. I also enjoy visiting different big cities when I have the time.

Your best memory from WFI so far?
-   My colleagues have mentioned our trips and I really agree with that, Barcelona was amazing. But I would also want to say some of the bigger projects that we have succeeded with together, when everything falls into place from start to finish line.

How would you describe the working environment at WFI?
-   We have a great community that is a lot about give and take. And WFI is a company with the heart at the right place, always.
