Integrated packing flow for expansive e-commerce
Dormy golf were looking for what they describe as ”A workstation to make e-commerce as efficient as possible”. It would be ergonomic with height-adjustable workbenches, iPads at the right height and an integrated solution for air seals in the packing flow. It should also be easy access to trolleys with packing boxes near the workstation.
From idea to reality
When WFI met Dormy for the first time, Dormy had a clear idea of what they wanted, but really had just simpler sketches of what the flow would look like. Most other suppliers had deemed the solution as too complex and extensive.
”But WFI were able to come up with ideas and solutions and at the same time listen to what we wanted,” says Staffan Gibson, central warehouse manager at Dormy. We got the impression that WFI had substantial and attractive workstation solutions already when we saw their stand at the Kista trade fair
Integrated flow created a successful whole
WFI’s salesperson took Dormy’s ideas and sketches to the design department at WFI who drew up an imagined flow of ergonomic packing bench solutions and an integrated solution for air seals. A special solution for a mobile packing trolley was also developed, the requirement was to be able to pick golf clubs to the packing bench in an easily accessible and smart
way.
”The biggest challenge during the course of the project has been to bring the whole together and create a circular flow,” says Staffan. But points out that the continued dialogue with WFI has been one of the keys to a successful result. That we, as a customer, have been involved throughout the process and that WFI has been great at providing feedback when there have been changes during the project.
The new flow has made it easier
Before Dormy modified their packing flow for deliveries, theywere short on space and needed to restructure their working method depending on whether the delivery was to the endcustomer or to one of the company’s own stores.
”It was cramped and there was a lot of irritation regardingthe flow,” states Staffan. Today, the new flow with workplace solutions from WFI has created efficiency and simplicity thatwas missing before.
WFI has been involved from the concept sketches to installing the solution on site at Dormy’s central warehouses in Örebro and the project has included all roles from sales staff and purchase to designers and installers.
”Now we can pack more orders per person without added stress. The new packing flow has made things easier and productivity
has increased,” concludes Staffan from Dormy.
Orderliness, with everything close at hand thanks to tape holder, shelf divider and integrated wastepaper bin.
